Jorge Rodríguez Reaffirmed as Venezuela’s National Assembly President for the 2025-2026 Term

In a session marked by active participation from lawmakers, the National Assembly of Venezuela has reaffirmed Jorge Rodríguez Gómez as the president of the legislative body for the 2025-2026 term.

The vote, which clearly showed a majority in favor of Rodríguez, took place at the Federal Palace, where other proposals were also presented.
Deputy Juan Carlos Alvarado was the other candidate in the presidential race but was unable to garner the necessary support to surpass Rodríguez.
Rodriguez stated during his inauguration speech that “peace is with us” and remarked that “dialogue will be with us, the free exchange of ideas will be the mark of the future we are building.”
About the re-elected president Nicolas Maduro’s swear in, Rodriguez highlighted that on January 10th, all Venezuelans, will see their president elected by the people of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, be sworn in before the deputies of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
During the same session, Pedro Infante was elected as the first vice president of the National Assembly, also receiving a majority of parliamentary votes, while Anyelith Tamayo was proposed for this role.
América Pérez was once again reaffirmed as the second vice president of the legislative body, outpacing Alfonso Campos in votes.
Additionally, in the positions of Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Legislative Power, lawyer María Alejandra Hernández and political scientist José Omar Molina were reaffirmed, respectively.
With the swearing-in of the newly elected deputies, the new Board of Directors of the National Assembly of Venezuela for the 2025-2026 legislative period has been officially established.
